Award winning author Amy Krouse Rosenthal (Little Pea, Little Hoot, and Little Oink) combines an optical illusion with text to produce a picture book for young children that will really get them to use their eyes and imagination. 

Undisclosed narrators argue about whether the creature in the swamp is a duck or a rabbit. Each describes why they believe it to be a duck or a rabbit which allows the listener to understand the different perspective. Children will be able to understand optical illusions and will find it quite easy to switch back and forth between characters after this book which increases visual literacy. It is also good for an early basis of philosophy. Something can be more or different than what it might appear. People learn and see things differently.

For older students, this book can be a conflict resolver as it shows two different valid view points and how should respect other people's opinions. Younger students can enjoy in the simple optical illusion. 

The illustrations are simple and eye-catching.
