A little sailor loves the sea but is fearful of swimming in the sea.
The little sailor enters discussion about the nature of the sea with the boat's experienced captain and the shipmate rabbit. Details about the sea's depth and temperature are discussed in addition to facts such as how whales stay warm and why fish aren't fat. After some contemplation, little sailor faces his fears and swims with the dolphins and whales.
All of the discussion and dialogue was a bit of a surprise, because I was expecting less for a board book. It's nice that this book does not simplify fact and gives exact information instead of just 'the ocean is deep.'
The illustrations are nice too.
Issues that it address: fear and conquering those fears. Also how to have fun in the sea and facts about the sea.
