Musician, author, and child development specialist, Jim Gill presents these lively and energetic songs for children. The songs range from reinvented classical pieces, like Beethoven's Five Finger Play that blends Beethoven's 5th with a klezmer tune (traditional Hebrew music), to new original works with fun lyrics (like Onomatopoeia Pizzeria and Foot Notes). In addition, there is a variety of musical styles. Classical, bluegrass, jazz, and spoken word will get children moving and playing while really enjoying the music.
I'm new to children's music. Listening to this album, and also Beethoven's Wig, has been like a revelation and "wow" moment to me. These are not merely 'children's songs' the lyrics can be complex and witty. The songs are not arranged as simplistic with basic lyrics to practice singing in tune. This is the next level of children music.
