This reassuring book lets kids know that even if their parents are going through a divorce, the parents still love them. Divorce is a difficult issue, but in this book there is no turmoil or chaos. In addition, the simple text takes this difficult issue and makes it easier for a child to understand. Claire Masurel avoids trying to explain the complexity of divorce and concentrates on the emotional and physical aspects.
This is a good story for children affected by divorce, in non-traditional homes, or kids looking to widen their perspectives. The character is well adjusted and okay with the situation. In relation to early literacy skills, it builds print motivation especially for a child dealing with this issue and finds answers in the book.
